Strategic ManagementCorporate FinanceStock Option Plans

In December 2003, I completed my Magister studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.

I pursued a dual major in Corporate Finance at the Institute for Finance with Prof. Bogner and Strategic Management, Controlling and Consulting at the Institute for Management with Prof. Speckbacher. ***I decided on those two majors in order to n addition to building a strong Strategic Management education I also wanted to *** in Corporate Finance to provide a solid foundation***

My diploma thesis was supervised by Prof. Speckbacher on the subject of employee participation models: Stock Option Plans - Incentive and Performance. In this study, I focused on significant dependencies between different SOP models and the development of stock prices.

After I completed my diploma thesis I was able to earn my degree as a Mag. rer. soc. Oec. on Dec. 10 2003. My thesis was later published by publishers "AV Akademiker Verlag" (ISBN 978-3-639-40537-8).

Business LawInternet Law

In November 2009, I completed the study of law at Juridicum based in Vienna, Austria.

In 1999, when I needed supplementary curricular courses for the political science study program I signed up for law. When political science beace a full time study in 2002, I decided to complete my studies of law anyway.

I earned my degree of Mag. Jur. in 2009. The only possible focus within the tight curriculum was a seminar at the Institute of Labor and Social Law with Prof. Schramml and a seminar about internet law at the Institute of Civil Law with Prof. Zankl.

International Politics

The study of political science has proven to be the most "academic" of all my studies. One year after the start of my business administration studies in 1999 I decided to sign up for something else - the subject should should be as different as possible from business administration. "Political Science" seemed to be a good fit covered my interests.

As political science was no full time study back in 1999 and I did not want to combine with any of the "usual suspect" supplementary curricular courses (almost everyone signed up for journalism), I create my own curriculum - it included law and computer science. When political science became a full time study in 2002, I descided to continue with both political science and law at the same time. (It seems remarkable that particularly computer science, which I dismissed at the time, should become my later focus for my professional experience.)

The study turned out to be very diverse and self-responsible. In contrast to the Business Administration at WU there weren't many classes for the same subject, but a big variaty of different topics to choose from. I focused on international politics - one of the four main subjects besides Austrian politics, comparative politics and political theory. The highlights were a study trip to the US, seminars on economic sactions and the foreign policy of the Bush jr. administration with (the now emeritus) Prof. Kramer from the Institute of Political Science.

Prof. Kramer also supervised me before my graduation in 2007 with my diploma thesis: "Unilateralism and the influence of neo-conservative think tanks in foreign policy of the USA "

Summer UniversityASEANBusiness and Communication in Asia

The Asian University of Science and Technology is an international university in Thailand, founded in 1997 and supported by the Imperial College London. The teaching language is English in all subjects. Each year, the "Asian U" Summer University programs were organized for international undergraduate students, and I was able to participate in the summer of 2009. The main focus is on cross cultural management, which provides a profound understanding of busniess practices in Asia - particularly from a "western" perspective. Besides Thailand the other ASEAN countries where covered.

Teaching classes covered the history of Thailand, an introduction to the Thai legal system and the rules of business and private communication. Thus, an understanding of the cultural background of potential business partners was established. Practical experience could be gathered in the course of numerous excursions, among them to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, to one of the largest food factories of the region and a large private hospital.

Most of the participants were from Central and Eastern Europe, but we also had a colleague from Japan and a few Russians in our group. In addition to the teaching units, numerous leisure activities were also organized, including language and cooking courses as well as cultural excursions to the sights of the region. One week of the program was held in a seminar hotel in Bangkok.
